KBQ, the barbecue, is a line of smoked meats developed by food industry veteran Kerry Britt that includes ribs, beef brisket, pulled pork, chicken, hot country sausage, and fish including salmon, tilapia, catfish and more.

KBQ, the place, is not your typical barbecue restaurant. KBQ is a neighborhood “joint” that reflects its founder’s culinary skill as well as his love for traditional jazz and old school funk music. The decorations feature album covers and music festival posters, and the soundscape is correspondingly jazzy and funky – and occasionally involves live musicians.

KBQ, the business, is a family operation opened in November 2007 by Britt, his wife, Lya Wesley Britt, and sister-in-law Shana Wesley.

Britt, a Florida native with a degree in hotel and restaurant management from Florida State University, spent more than 17 years in the food service industry with

Marriott and Sodexho. On the side, he operated a catering business with which he has delighted people at parties and other events, and perfected his flavors.

Passionate about music, Britt is equally passionate as a “pit master.” He prepares his meats with all-natural, unadulterated oak and hickory smoke. Seasoned with a proprietary blend of herbs and spices, his brisket and pulled pork are smoked for more than 10 hours and are marked by a pink ring around the meat that barbecue connoisseurs know to look for.

KBQ has delicious sauces, as well – original, sweet n spicy, and a gourmet white sauce.
